Field Trips

Field trips are an excellent way to augment your home education efforts.  Hands on, real life learning can increase understanding and retention.  And, they are just plain fun!

Trips are planned and coordinated by our on-staff Field Trip Coordinator who relies on parent participation and assistance.  If you would like to help out with a specific field trip, or if you have a suggestion for a future field trip, contact the Field Trip Coordinator at hcsfieldtrips@hcssd.org.

HCS Field Trip Policies and Procedures

Registration
Field Trips are announced in the HCS weekly newsletter, HCS website, and Week-at-Glance social media posts. Registration for Field Trips occurs through Homeschool-Life. Deadlines for registration and Field Trip start times are firm. After successful registration, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address listed in HSL for the primary account holder. A reminder email will be sent a few days prior to the event.
Payment
Your HCS account will be invoiced at the close of registration. There is a no refund policy for cancellations made after the registration deadline. Members in leadership with HCS will receive a Leadership Discount for most Field Trips; the Admin fee will be waived for the first four tickets. The Leadership Team is defined as Staff, Board, Club Committee Member, and Academy/Class Day Lead.
Expectations
All Field Trip registrants will check-in with the HCS Field Trip Coordinator the morning of the event at the time indicated. Late arrivals will not be admitted. HCS Dress Code applies to all Field Trip attendees. A group photo will be taken once all registrants have been checked-in and the venue has been paid for the group. Please email any pictures taken to HCSFieldTrips@hcssd.org to be included in the HCS Yearbook.
Chaperones
Field Trips are for HCS members and their extended family only. In the situation of extenuating circumstances in which neither parent is able to attend, a special consideration allows you to designate a substitute chaperone to attend with your children. The chaperone must be at least 21 years of age, pay for and clear the background check, and sign our HCS Statement of Faith. Special considerations must be requested, receive approval and are not granted on a regular basis.
