Field Trips

Field trips are an excellent way to augment your home education efforts.  Hands on, real life learning can increase understanding and retention.  And, they are just plain fun!

Trips are planned and coordinated by our on-staff Field Trip Coordinator who relies on parent participation and assistance.  If you would like to help out with select field trip, or if you have a suggestion for a future field trip, contact the Field Trip Coordinator at

Lincoln memorial

Washington, DC

April 10 - 13, 2022

Heritage Christian School students are traveling on a WorldStrides Christian Discoveries program to Washington, D.C. where students will learn about history and government firsthand. Students will also gain fresh insight into the strong faith of our Founding Fathers and discover the role faith played in the foundation of America. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will inspire your child to think about the future, pursue goals, and create lifelong memories.

On this educational adventure, students will explore our nation's most important historical sites and experience
incomparable learning moments like:

  • Finding inspiration from the heroes honored at D.C.'s war memorials and Arlington National Cemetery
  • Engaging in on-site devotions such as praying for our president outside of the White House
  • Standing where Martin Luther King, Jr., delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech at the Lincoln Memorial

Traveling with WorldStrides Christian Discoveries programs has been chosen because of their exceptional service, their 50 years of experience, their safety record, and their preventive measures that ensure learning occurs in a safe and fun environment.  HCS parent, Lydia Amos will chaperone the program with other teachers as needed, and throughout the program our group will be guided by a Christian-Discoveries-certified Course Leader 24 hours a day. This trip is school sponsored. Please read through all the details including a sample itinerary here and visit for more details about WorldStrides and our group's trip.
