Volunteer Leads

Whatever HCS class, club, extracurricular activity, or event that the school offers, it is only made possible because of the parents who volunteer their time here at HCS to make it happen. Every class day class is taught solely by volunteers. That we even have classes to offer is because we have Class Day and Academy Leads volunteering to manage these services. Every club is run by a parent committee consisting of parent volunteers. Every coach is coaching on a volunteer basis. Every mentor assigned to help newer families is volunteering their time to do so. Every park day, camp, social, or gathering is made possible because of parent volunteers. The overall leadership of the school, the Board of Directors, is comprised of men volunteering their time. Whatever activity or service you are participating in and excited about, please take a moment to reach out and thank those volunteers for providing that service for your kids.

This year, we will be featuring volunteers in the newsletter throughout the year and adding them to this page as we go along. We want you to know these names; we want you to seek them out and acknowledge their service. And, yes, we want you to be inspired to be ready to volunteer as well when your season of life enables you to do so. In the meantime, please thank and appreciate those that are in that season of life now and are putting in the time to make HCS the vibrant homeschool community it is.

Lydia has been with Heritage for the whole homeschooling journey so far and will continue until her younger son graduates. She loves what a class day offers in relationship building, community, core subjects, and electives. When the call for a new class day in Clairemont came up, Lydia was thrilled to participate as she knows the benefits. The Lord knew that she would be the one to lead this new class day. Erin McKinsey Portrait

ERIN MCKINSEY

DEL CERRO (DC) CAMPUS
Erin McKinsey is a San Diego native and Heritage Christian School Alumna. Additionally, she is the daughter of Tracy West, our school accountant. Tracy was called by the Lord when Erin was in 5th grade to homeschool her 3 youngest daughters. Erin returned to HCS in 2017 to begin the academic adventure of her daughter Harmony. She has worked in many educational settings including nursery coordination, after-school programs, tutoring, preschool and elementary classrooms.

Following her graduation from Point Loma Nazarene University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and Concentration in Human Development, Erin earned a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from San Diego State University. Prior to becoming a mother, she instructed Second Grade at Trinity Christian School. This was a truly exciting time for Erin, as she was teaching under the leadership of her former elementary school principal. Erin had attended TCS as a child, beginning in preschool and lasting through 4th grade. When she was 18 years old, Erin was also hired as the lunch supervisor and PE Coach.

Now, Erin is employed as a teacher part-time and head of curriculum development. She has attended Foothills Christian Church for the past 25 years. For her, it is a priceless treasure to serve HCS families as Del Cerro Class Day Lead and share in the joy of learning together as we grow in God’s love.

jessica sepulveda

JUNIOR ACADEMY
Like both of her sisters, Jessica is a proud HCS alum. Since graduating in 2018, she has remained an active volunteer in the HCS community including teaching a photography class at EC Class Day and lending her photography and videography skills to the Yearbook/VMA program. While she enjoys providing professional photography services in her spare time, she’s currently a full-time residential leasing consultant. Jessica has many passions including playing softball, which she played from the age of five through high school; singing, which she has used to serve in church worship ministry since the age of 13; and song writing. She has several copy-written songs under her belt inspired by difficult situations she has had to face in her young life.

As a PK, Jessica was born into ministry and has been involved in ministry all her life. Jessica loves the Lord with all her heart, and nothing relaxes her more than sitting at the piano and singing worship songs to her creator, Jesus Christ.

Jessica is excited to continue to help HCS by serving as the Jr. Academy lead in its first year of operation and looks forward to growing with it.
