Elaine and her husband Jeff have been married for 24 years and have three kids: one HCS graduate and two who are still homeschooling. The Hickman family began their homeschool journey in 2015 when military life took them overseas. During their years abroad, they fell in love with worldschooling—learning through travel and real-world experiences. They joined HCS in 2020 when their oldest child entered high school and the ability to travel changed drastically. Through the many different “seasons” of homeschool, Elaine has felt incredibly blessed to spend so much time with her kids and guide them in their education.

Elaine is passionate about the arts and enjoys creativity in all forms. She is a former dance teacher and choreographer. She previously taught elementary art in homeschool co-ops and as a volunteer at local schools. Elaine is actively involved in her church's preschool ministry and has also served with Compassion International, We See You San Diego, on her daughters' AHG troop board, and as a cheer coach. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, exploring local coffee shops, and studying the Bible and apologetics.
