When my oldest daughter was about 3 years old, she learned a song that said, “I am standing, I am standing on the solid rock of Jesus!” It was adorable to hear her sing it and we loved to watch her perform it with so much passion and conviction. She may not have understood completely what she was saying, but she believed it!

As children get older, they seem to lose that innocence and pure faith. But the things they believe and profess as children are still true no matter how old they get. Jesus is our solid rock!!!

In a world where things and people are not consistent, we can count on Jesus and the promises of His word to be consistent. He promises to never leave us alone. He promises to rescue us. He promises to forgive us. He promises to love us and care for us. In fact, there are over 7,000 promises that God makes to his people in the Bible!

It is very easy to forget or simply not believe in these promises of God, especially in times where you can’t see him or feel him working in your life. It is in these times where you can find strength and comfort in the scriptures and these very promises, and trust in the power of the Holy Spirit to complete the work God has begun in you!

In order to trust in the promises of God, we must know them. I challenge you to study, learn, and memorize these promises and to make a habit of teaching them to your children. Let these promises live in you so that when your faith is weak, His word is strong in you. Let Jesus be your solid rock, so that when the winds and rain come, you will still be standing when they subside.
