BASKETBALL PARENT COMMITTEE VICE PRESIDENT
Jessica was born and raised in sunny San Diego. She and her husband, Felix Valdez, have been married for 26 years and are the proud parents of three children. Their oldest, Felix Jr., is 23 and attends Grossmont College. Anthony, 21, is currently serving in the United States Army. Their youngest, Sydney, is 14 and a high school freshman. Felix is a general contractor, and together they own and operate their construction company.

Jessica & Felix are now in their fourth year of homeschooling. Prior to this journey, their children attended a private Christian school. When their oldest son was entering his senior year, the Lord began to tug at Jessica’s heart, prompting a change. At the time, she felt reluctant and unsure if she had the ability or skills needed to homeschool, and she initially ignored God’s calling. It wasn’t until the following year, after her second son graduated, that she stepped out in faith and began homeschooling Sydney.

A family friend who was homeschooling through Heritage Christian School encouraged them to explore the opportunity. After meeting with the principal and learning about the many options and clubs year-round, Jessica felt both supported and inspired. Their first experience with the HCS community was a summertime hangout hosted by Bonita Class Day, and from that very first gathering, Jessica and Sydney felt immediately welcomed and excited about this new chapter.

Since joining HCS, their family has been actively involved in many areas, including the Academy, Class Days, volleyball, softball, basketball, drama, band, and choirs. Felix and Jessica are deeply grateful to the many parents who generously give their time and talents to lead classes, activities, and programs. Jessica has also enjoyed serving in the community in several roles. Over the years, she has been a Co-Lead for Bonita Class Day, served on the Drama and Music Committee, and currently serves as the Vice President of the Basketball Committee.

Through homeschooling, they have especially appreciated the freedom and flexibility it provides, along with the gift of more time together as a family. Throughout their homeschooling journey, the HCS community has been a constant source of encouragement, support, and friendship.
