Erica graduated from Point Loma Nazarene in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in child development. Later she earned her teaching credential and masters degree from National University. She taught several years in the La Mesa Spring Valley School District, where she met her husband Dave. They married in 2003 and have two boys, Ethan (2006) and Elijah (2009).

Both Dave and Erica are San Diego natives and enjoy hiking, biking and camping. They have homeschooled both of their boys from the start and have been thrilled with the awesome support and varied opportunities Heritage Christian School has afforded their youngest son Eli.

After attending the Worldview Academy in 2025, Elijah was so deeply impacted by what he learned that he wanted to continue honing his apologetics skills. He also wanted to encourage his classmates to do the same. He decided to pursue the creation of a new Apologetics Club this past year and it has been very successful. The club has been meeting monthly and is now in the process of planning their future street evangelizing.
