Greetings and Blessings this Christmas Season!

Hello HCS Families.

We know what it meant when the “Good News” of the Gospel was first proclaimed for us to understand. It meant our lives would change eternally and Christ is now the epicenter of all that we do. As we come through the Thanksgiving season and head towards Christmas, it is important to guard our hearts, our minds and our spirits. Let’s speak love and truth to everyone that the Lord brings into to our presence this season. Let us also be careful of what we “take in” when watching our favorite Christmas shows and programs. Seeking after good news, not relishing in the bad news is so important for our “Christ-like” mindset.

News reporting tends to focus on all the bad things happening around the world. We live in a broken place, populated by broken people, so there is plenty of tragedy to fill those reports. But there also are a lot of good things happening. God’s people are standing in the gap; using their talents and gifts to make a difference for the Kingdom of God. That news takes a little more effort to find, but I encourage you to look for it. Tune into Christian television networks, streaming channels, and podcasts, to find preaching and teaching, reports of missionary advances, and stories of personal change and spiritual growth. We are strengthened when we hear about how God is at work in the world. Yes, we should be aware of world events. But we also should make sure we are aware of the spiritual victories taking place at the same time. Let the good news of what God is accomplishing in us, His body, encourage, strengthen and bless you!

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word. ~ 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 NIV

Jesus Christ is our source of life; He will renew our strength and provide the encouragement necessary for us to stand strong. The Lord will grant us wisdom to guard our hearts and minds.

In Christ,
