Meet Our Concert Choir Chamber Singers Director

Jenny Shippee
Mrs. Jenny Shippee started singing in church choir at age four, started oboe at age ten, and is an active musician in San Diego today.  Mrs. Shippee earned degrees from Northwestern and SDSU in music. She enjoyed her career serving in the Navy Band as oboist and vocalist. Currently Jenny sings for Pacific Coast Chorale, is section leader for the Westminster Touring Choir, plays oboe and an English Horn for various community orchestras and bands, and performs professionally with her woodwind quintet.

Her husband Carlton (retired military trombonist) works as a Network Engineer in direct support of the Navy Fleet.  The Shippee family lives in Pine Valley with three children, two dogs, two cats, and a barrage of wild turkeys.

She has been leading our HCS choir since 2021 and is excited for new musical adventures this year. Singing in a choir is a unique, vulnerable, powerful and amazing experience, and it is a joy to offer this form of musical expression and worship to Heritage students.
Nicole Kemp

Mrs. Kemp was born into a musical family, learning and performing piano and voice from a very early age. It wasn’t long before she was a trusted assistant of her dear mother Laura, whose highly sought after piano program regularly blessed over forty full-time students. After high school, Nicole pursued a law degree, but her deep love for music never left her heart.

After spending several years as a practicing attorney, she attended San Diego State University for vocal pedagogy classes under former Metropolitan Opera singer Mary Mackenzie, additionally studying at her private vocal studio. At this time she developed her own music program for piano and vocal students, including a Choral Ensemble. In addition to private events, Nicole has performed at the College Church in Wheaton, with the San Diego Master Chorale and with the Shadow Mountain Community Church Choir.

Her three children also now share a passion for music and one of the great joys of her life remains inspiring others to excellence as they foster their own love for music!
